Shirley M. Decker

Shirley M. Decker, born June 3, 1943, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2017 at the Robert Packer Hospital.
She was predeceased in death by her mother, Ethel M. Wheeler, and father, Joh Wheeler, two brothers, Albert Allen, Jr. and Edward Allen. She was also predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Edward Merrill Decker, Jr., on Jan. 17, 2004; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Crystal Marie Waldo on Oct. 31, 2010. Shirley is survived by her four children and their spouses, son, Edward and Pracilla Decker of Wasilla, AK, daughter, Jody and Jeff Caforio of Binghamton, NY, daughter, Suky and Thomas Schuster of Towanda, PA, and son, John and Jennifer Decker of Athens, PA. She has 11 grandchildren, Kira, Michael, Heather, Ashley and husband Shaun, Robert and wife Jennifer, Mark, Jr. and wife Whitney, Brandon and wife Maria, Rhys, John Michael, Stephen, and James. She has 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and finally, her companion of the last 13 years, David E. Glose. In her earlier years, Shirley loved to crochet and tend her flowers. She was an avid animal lover. She loved her grandchildren and her family was precedent. Friends and family may call on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 2pm-3:30pm at the Waverly United Methodist Church, 158 Chemung Street, Waverly, NY. A Memorial Service will follow at the church at 3:30pm with the Rev. Anne Bey Canfield officiating. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA. Any memorial donations may be directed to the care of the Animal Care Sanctuary in East Smithfield, PA.
