John W. Reed

John W. Reed, Sr., 84, of Sayre, PA passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015 unexpectedly at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA. He was born October 14, 1930 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Allen, Sr. and Inez Goble Reed. John enjoyed camping, word puzzles, and his grandchildren. He worked at Tioga General Hospital, Waverly, NY, retiring in 1993.
He is predeceased by his parents and his brother Allen Reed, Sr. John is survived by his wife Alberta of 49 years at home, children John Reed, Jr., of Sayre, PA, Mike and Marty Reed of Athens, PA, Mark and Patricia Reed of Endicott, NY, John Paul and Mary Reed of Binghamton, NY and Debbie Reed and Doug Wells of Lockwood, NY, 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, sister Mary Kester of Waverly, NY, sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Bucky Godici of Fulton, NY, brother Bob and Diane Reed of Spokane, WA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Friday, July 31, 2015 from 1pm-2pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Memorial Service will follow at the Funeral Home at 2pm with the Rev. Mark Waters and Rev. Bert Ghilhardi co-officiating.
Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA. Memorial donations may be made in John's memory to the Disabled Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
