James D. May

James D. May, 80, of Coplay, died Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Arden Courts, Allentown, where he had been residing.  He was the husband of Esther J. (Aikens) May to whom he was married 55 years last June 16. Born in Sayre, Bradford Co., December 7, 1942, James was the son of the late Clyde Arthur and Alice Mae (Gorsline) May. He was employed as a manufacturer representative at Unicast Company in Boyertown for 10 years before retiring in 2009. Prior to that, James was a sales manager for Ingersoll Rand in Athens, Bradford Co. for 21 years.  James served as past Chairman of the American Foundry Society (Piedmont & Penn-York Chapters). He was a member of the Sayre Elks Lodge # 1148, the Rural Amity Lodge F. & A.M. Lodge # 70, Athens, and a life-member of the Diahoga Hose Co. #6, Athens. James served as Head Trustee of Community Fire Co. #1, Schnecksville.

Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Esther; son, Philip G. May and his wife, Judy of Wellsville, NY; daughter, Elizabeth A. May of Coplay; sister, Brenda L. wife of Dr. Harvey Taylor of Sayre; brother, Richard G. May and his wife, Linda of Wallkill, NY; granddaughter, Jessica wife of Jeremy Hoffman of Odessa, NY; great-granddaughter, Laine A. Hoffman.

Service: A celebration of Jim’s life will be held 5:00 pm. Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 S. Main Street, Athens.
