Jack H. Vanderpool

Jack H. Vanderpool, 64, passed away at home with his family by his side on Thursday, December 31, 2015, following an extended illness. He was born on June 5, 1951 in Sayre, PA the son of Howard and Grace Graham Vanderpool. Jack was employed with Iroquois Foundry in Waverly, and retired after 25 years from Thomas-Betts in Elmira, NY. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and watching NASCAR, his favorite drivers were Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Jr. He raced motorcycles, and participated in the Burro Enduro in East Athens.
He is predeceased by his father Howard Vanderpool, paternal grandparents Jonathan and Della Vanderpool, maternal grandparents Howard and Ina Graham, and nephew Michael Vanderpool. Jack is survived by his wife of 35 years Kathy Forrest Vanderpool at home, children Diane Austin of Barton, NY, Shawn Vanderpool of Sayre, PA, and Shane Cordner of Sayre, PA, grandchildren Nicholas Vanderpool of Canton, PA, Nicole Austin of Roaring Branch, PA, Arielle Haggerty of Sayre, PA, Carly Vanderpool of Altoona, PA, Shawn Vanderpool, Jr. of Altoona, PA, Neal Austin of Barton, NY, Natasha Austin of Barton, NY, Daneesha Cordner of Sayre, PA, and Mason Cordner of Sayre, PA, great-grandchildren Landon Austin, Dominick Vanderpool, Dallas Vanderpool, and Johnathan Carey, sister and brother-in-law April and Bill Curren of Athens, PA, brother Brian Vanderpool of Sayre, PA, sisters Patty Vanderpool of Sayre, PA and Christy Vanderpool of Athens, PA and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Monday, January 4, 2016 from 12pm to 2pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at 2pm at the Funeral Home with Rev. Linda Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA. Memorial donations may be made in Jack's memory to Guthrie Clinic, Oncology Department, One Guthrie Square, Sayre, PA 18840.
