William Charles Ellis passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2026. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
William was the loving father of Jeff (Elizabeth) Ellis and a proud grandfather to Sophia and Asher Ellis, who brought great joy to his life. He is also survived by his sisters, Diane Walter and Jean Peck, nieces and nephews, along with many friends who cherished his companionship.
William shared a remarkable life with his beloved wife, Donna Ellis, with whom he was married for 50 years. Their marriage was a testament to love and partnership. Donna preceded him in death in December 2022, and their bond remained a guiding light in his life.
He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—watching movies, working on his classic truck, and spending time with friends and family.
William will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his loyalty to his friends, and the quiet strength and kindness he showed throughout his life. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so dearly.
At William’s request, services will be private. He will be laid to rest with his wife, Donna, at Tioga Point Cemetery in Athens. The family is being assisted by Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens.
Memorial donations may be made in William’s memory to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org.
