Walter J. Stein, Jr.

Walter J. Stein, Jr., 60, of Pine Valley, NY, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Corning Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. 

He was born on November 7, 1965 in Elmira, NY, the son of Walter J. Stein, Sr. and Carol A. (Wise) Stein.

Walt was a Jack of all Trades doing various jobs throughout his life.  He was known as a collector of all things.  Walt enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, but especially his grandchildren.  

He was predeceased by his father, Walter J. Stein, Sr.; Daughter, Joanne Coley; son, Charles Thomas Stein and best friend, Bill Ripley.

Walter is survived by his mother, Carol Stein; children, Jennifer Hamilton, Allison and her husband, Brian Shipp, Julie Colton and Ashley Lee Levine; daughter-in-law, Richelle Stein; former son-in-law, Douglas Colton; grandchildren, Lukas Betser, Landon Colton, Ana Grismore, Tanner Colton, Logan Grismore, Chase Colton, Jacob Shipp, Elijah Shipp, Jaxon Shipp, Josie Shipp and Jupiter Jae Stein; step-grandson, Derek Spiak; siblings, Ann Stein, Thomas Stein and Paul and his wife, Tammy Stein, several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
