Shirley June Furman Aikens, 99, of Sayre, PA, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025.
She was born on June 3, 1926, in Rome, PA, the daughter of the late Guy and Julia (Browning) Cass.
Shirley was a homemaker, taking care of her husband and raising her children. She attended the Rome High School, graduating in 1945. Shirley was a long-time member of the Barton Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her first husband; Lloyd Furman, second husband; Albert L. Aikens, daughter; Susan L. Shaffer, son-in-law; John Phillips, granddaughter; Sheila Phillips, and her siblings and their spouses; Sybil and Bob Nichols, May and Ed Cook, Carol and Eben Vought, and Montague and Ruth Cass.
Shirley is survived by her daughters; Gloria Dawn Phillips and Julia G. and her husband James Urda0, granddaughters; Cindy (Ron) Stansfield, Jennifer Urda, and Cathy (Michael) Japhet, great-granddaughters; Emily Stansfield and Amanda (Sam) Stansfield, great-great-grandson Alistair Stansfield, several nieces and nephews, and a very special friend; Ned Vinson.
Graveside memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family by Rev. William Wells. The family is being cared for by Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
