Roberta Claire Eike Blanchard, 92, of Athens Township, PA, passed away peacefully at home on May 2, 2026.
She was born on October 3, 1933, daughter of the late Herbert Blodgett and Claire Flora (Nimchick) Eike at Robert Packer Hospital.
Bobbie received academic degrees in Marine Biology, and enjoyed studying microscopic life forms.
She held many different occupations, including Medical Lab Technician, Teacher, and Fisheries Observer. Some of her work involved travelling and living in remote areas of Alaska.
Bobbie volunteered at the Tioga Point Museum, the Sayre Historical Society, and gave tours of the local North Branch Canal. She established and presented the Wildlife Award at the annual Athens High School graduation awards ceremony, always with words promoting the reverence she felt towards nature.
Bobbie raised chickens of many breeds, gardened, and tapped her walnut trees. She attended events around the Valley, sang Karaoke, and danced to live music of local bands.
She will be lovingly remembered by her three children, other family members, and many friends and neighbors.
Bobbie believed that “All life is related, even plants and other animals, and it all comes from and goes to the same place.”
A green burial will take place during a private service at the family resting place, within view of the bank of the Weighlock of the Old North Branch Canal.
