Robert Charles Pond Sr., 77, of Sarasota, FL (formerly of Sayre, PA) went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. Robert, known better as Bob, was born August 25, 1946 in Waverly, NY, the son of the late Donald F. Pond Sr. and Ruth Talada Pond.
Bob attended and graduated from Waverly High School before joining the U.S. Navy where he served in Vietnam. He was employed by Ingersoll-Rand in Athens, PA and later started his own tree business, Bob’s Tree Service.
Bob loved being outdoors and enjoyed boating, fishing, going to the arcade, listening to live music, and planting and taking care of his plants and trees. He loved visiting home for his birthday each year and above all, he loved any time he spent with his great-grandchildren.
Survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marion Brown Pond, brother George Pond of Bradenton, FL, sons Robert Pond Jr. of Ashland, PA and Christopher (Deborah) Pond of Sayre, PA, grandchildren Kristen (Chris) Stone of Sayre, PA, Jennifer Spencer of Sayre, PA, Robert Pond III of Ashland, PA, Ashley (Dylan) Parrish of Sayre, PA, Charles Miner III of Sayre, PA, Ryan Johnson, and Andrew Johnston, great grandchildren Trinity Stone, Arabella Spencer, Lucas Stone, Nehemiah Spencer, Savannah Stone, Alianna Parrish, Adleigh Parrish, Xander Parrish, Ryleigh Seiger, Devyn Seiger and Dustin Seiger, sister-in-law Grace Pond of Sheshequin Township, PA, and Donna (Tom) Mowrey, brother-in-law Gary Angelo, special friends Barbara and Bill Clark of Sarasota, FL, and Jim and Martha Bailey of Athens, PA and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Bob is predeceased by his brothers, William Talada, Ronald Pond, and Donald Pond Jr., sisters-in-law Margaret Pond and Louise Pond, and special friend David.
A time of visitation will be held for friends and family on September 11, 2023 from 11 am to 12pm at the Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 12 pm with the Rev. Chris Gray officiating.
Burial will follow at Bradford County Memorial Park, Towanda, PA.
