Richard "Dick" G. Whipple, Sr.

Richard “Dick” G. Whipple, Sr., 81, passed away at the home of his son, on Sunday, January 26, 2025.

He was born in Sayre, PA, on February 13, 1943, the son of the late Ora and Hilda Whipple.

Dick was a graduate of Athens Area High School, Class of 1962 He was a Veteran of the US Army. Dick worked as a Machine Operator at the Ingersoll Rand in Athens, up until his retirement in 2005.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother David Whipple and sister and brother-in-law Esther and Mark Frisbie, sister-in-law Dory Whipple, and brothers-in-law Robert Roof and Thomas Daugherty, Sr.

Richard is survived by his wife whom in married on March 26, 1966; Marlena Louise Daugherty, daughters; Shari Whipple and Carlena Whipple, son and daughter-in-law; Richard, Jr. and Lucille Whipple; 9 grandchildren; Heather Westbook, Cassandra Whipple, Candice Bowman, Brian Westbrook, Cayli Casselbury, Cameron Henry, Chad Westbrook, Nicholas Whipple and Joseph Whipple, 13 great grandchildren, brother; Ora Whipple, Jr., sister and brother-in-law; JoAnn and Fred Bohlayer sister; Mary Jane Roof, sisters-in-law; Cathy Whipple and Marilyn Daugherty, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Time of Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 11am-1pm at the Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street Athens, PA. A Celebration of Life Service will be held following the service at 1pm.
