Paul Emerson Harbst, Jr.

Paul Emerson Harbst, Jr., age 85, of Athens, PA passed away Friday June 30, 2023 at Athens Health and Rehabilitation Center in Athens, PA following declining health.

Paul was born April 12, 1938 in Le Raysville, PA, the son of the late Paul Harbst, Sr. and Marie (Baggerly) Harbst.

Paul loved family get-togethers, hunting, fishing, and making home-made wine.  He loved woodworking and making baby cradles for the special people in his life.  Paul attended his grandchildren’s activities whenever possible.  He enjoyed little league games, YHEC competitions, and band performances.

Paul is predeceased by his sisters Alice May, Kate, Marion, Jean, and his brother Tom.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Grace (Humphrey) Harbst; his children Jeff (Desiree) Harbst, Becky (Tracy) Bennett, Faye (Rob) Tedesco, Laurie (Rich) Kinsman and Nikki Williams; grandchildren Paul and Steven Tedesco, Shawn (Emily) Allis, Jacob Abulencia, Jenny Craig, and Austin Pruyne; great grandchildren Judah, Emelia, Levi, Jack, Emerson, Declan, Sawyer, Grayson, and Ruth; brothers Dan, (Sheila) Harbst, Kelly (Mary Ann) Harbst, Joe (Vivian) Harbst, Charlie (Judy) Harbst and  John (Donna) Harbst; sisters Nancy (Larry) Yost and Peg Ann (Wilmer) Chilson; also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and a very special niece Kathy Sluyter.

In lieu of a funeral, Paul requested a celebration of life that will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at the Sayre VFW, 932 W. Lockhart Street, Sayre, PA 18840 from 3 to 7 pm.
