Muriel M. (Gowin) Coston

Muriel M. (Gowin) Coston, 77, of Towanda, PA, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at the Towanda Guthrie Personal Care Home.

She was born on December 27, 1945, in Rochester, NY, the daughter of the late William and Meriel (Evans) Gowin.

Muriel was a graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1964. She was employed with Sayre House for over 25 years, prior to retiring. Muriel enjoyed going out to eat, drink, and gamble at Tioga Downs with family and friends whom she loved dearly. She enjoyed playing lottery tickets and Bingo. She loved all animals.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her son Joseph P. Coston, sisters Sandra Miller and Chris Packard, brothers John Gowin Richard Gowin, Tom Gowin and her youngest brother William Jr. (Billy) Gowin

Muriel is survived by her beloved children Matthew (Amy) Coston of Horseheads, NY, Clara (Greg) Fiske of Woodbourne, NY, and Michelle (Terry) Dutton of Towanda, PA, grandchildren Ashley (Javan) McAllister, Jacob Dutton, Tiffany Coston, Brandon Coston, Derek Coston, Roman Coston, Parker Coston, Johnny Fiske, Joshua Fiske, Collin (Alysa) Carnrike, Megan Park and Payton Park, great-grandson Cameron Carnrike. She is also survived by her sisters Barbara Hayward of NJ, Debbie DeVuyst of PA, Betty Vanderpool of Wysox, PA, Carol Minard of Towanda, PA, Cheryl Ulrich of Williamsport, PA, and Melinda Gowin of Ithaca, NY, brother David (Ann) Gowin of Luther Mills, PA, several nieces and nephews, and former husband John “Fossil” Coston.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 1pm at Bradford County Memorial Park, 20452 Route 6, Towanda, PA. The family is being assisted by Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
