Melissa "Missy" Kipp Obituary

Missy’s Obituary 2/5/1968 - 3/20/26

Missy (Melissa) Karin Kipp passed away peacefully at her home in the arms of her loving husband on March 20th, 2026 after a courageous battle with stage 4 ovarian cancer.

Missy was born on February 5th, 1968 at Tioga General Hospital in Waverly, Ny. She was the second child of 4 born to Harry and Bonnie Campbell. She attended Athens High School and graduated in 1986 where she excelled in Art and was a member of the color guard in the marching band.  She was a social butterfly who was always surrounded by friends.

After high school Missy traveled to Pittsburgh, Pa. where she attended the Art Institute and having many adventures in the big city with her future husband Walter (Tom) Kipp.  Missy and Tom then moved to Harrisburg, Pa. for a short while, before coming back home to the Valley and surrounding areas. She made many friends while working first at Burger King in high school, Burger King in Pittsburgh as she attended college, Pharmor as a Video Manager in Harrisburg,  Ames department store and then Video Circus in the Valley, Tom by her side the whole time, they married in 1990 after a 5-year courtship together before finally moving back and settling to the Valley.

Missy was gifted with the greatest of artistic talents. She loved being able to craft and create the most amazing things with her hands. Her favorite things were creating sculptures, jewelry, and ornaments from polymer clay for the Holidays, Christmas being one of her most favorite times of the year, you would find her creations on family and friend’s Christmas trees which she made and gave out as gifts year after year. Her Husband has so many of her creations in storage which you will be finding on upcoming holiday events for family and friends.

When Missy was not creating art, she really enjoyed experimenting with cooking in her kitchen and made the most amazing foods. Her husband supported this other super talent she had as he was her biggest fan to benefit from all the good cooking and meals she made for him. Missy said this was one of her ways of showing her love to him.

When she was not creating, she also enjoyed watching all kinds of movies especially scary, action, and crime thrillers. Her favorites were Godzilla, King Kong, all the Alien and Predator sequels, and playing video games, Prey and Doom, these were all things her siblings, cousin and husband bonded with her over.

Missy was also an avid animal lover and had many fur babies that she bonded  with. Cheyanne ( Chey-Chey) her gray wolf husky was one of her favorites. Even as a child she always had a knack for finding hurt or injured creatures from bunnies to squirrels and everything in between to nurse back to health.  She also had no fear of snakes and would take mild pleasure in chasing her terrified little sister around the back yard with the garter snakes that she and her older brother would find.  She gave lots of love to the many pets she was able to care for over her lifetime.

She loved fiercely and no one knows better than Tom Kipp whom she loved with her whole heart and soul for just about her entire life. He was her world and she always glowed when she talked about ‘’her Tommy’’ and the life they built together which most of the time was them against the world.

They met as teenagers during the early August summer of 1985 through her older brother Stan that worked with Tom at P&C foods. Stan and Missy came into the store one day to do some shopping as Tom was working that day and saw Missy with Stan, which Tom eagerly asked Stan in private, who is that? It was fireworks for Tom as he eagerly pursued interest in Missy who became the love of his lifetime. They spent their early teenage years together with Missy’s family and friends and were virtually inseparable for 40 plus great years. Missy and Tom knew at a very early age they were meant to be, and build a life together which today is so very rare.  Missy loved spending quiet nights at home with Tom and their many fur babies throughout her lifetime.

Missy was predeceased by both sets of grandparents, Edgar and Gladys Osborn on her maternal side and Louis ‘’Pete’’ and Clara Campbell on her paternal side, along with her cousin on her maternal side Curtis Cheeks.  She is survived by her husband Tom Kipp, Father and Mother Harry and Bonnie Campbell of Athens PA., brother Stan Campbell of Owego Ny.,  two Sisters Sarah Vanhousen of Sayre, Pa. and Anna (Isaac) Keir of Athens, PA., niece Delia Keir, Nephews Keegan, Lucas,  Atlas Keir, and several other nieces and nephews, In-laws Forrest and Darleen Kipp of Athens PA, sisters -n-law Sheryl Kunik, (Michael ) of Salisbury, Maryland and Jennifer Parks - Rutkowski, (John) of Drums, Pa.

At Missy’s request there will be no funeral services, she did not want anybody to fuss over her, she wanted her family and friends to remember her for the way she was.
