Max A. Grimm, age 88, of Athens, passed away on Thursday November 23, 2023 at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital after a brief illness.
Born January 7, 1935 in Neuhuetten, Germany son of the late Karl and Anna (Karl) Grimm.
Max learned his trade as a foundry worker in Germany and came to America arriving in Queens, New York in 1960 where he continued to practice his trade until retiring from both Lockheed Martin and IBM. He was involved in numerous organizations in the valley such as the Satterlee Creek Environmental Center, Knights of Columbus Council 1807 and the Litchfield Township Volunteer Fire Company. Max had a passion for gardening and was an avid outdoorsman and hunter.
He was predeceased by his parents, Karl and Anna (Karl) Grimm and his wife of 48 years, Caecilia (Klassen) Grimm.
Max is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, George and Brenda Grimm of Lewistown and daughter and son-in-law, Sonja and Kenneth Hummel of Massillon, Oh; grandchildren Heidi and husband Ian McCoy, Nick and wife Andrea Grimm, and Katarina Grimm; great grandchildren, Isabelle Maben, Max McCoy, Cove Grimm and Easton McCoy; sister, Maria Stenger and brother and sister-in-law, Franz and Gisela Grimm.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 S. Main Street, Athens, PA. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Church of the Epiphany, 304 S. Elmer Avenue, Sayre, PA. Burial to follow at Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
