Mary Debra Wheeler, age 70, passed away August 24, 2023 at Allied Services Hospice Center in Scranton, PA with her children and daughter in law by her side.
Mary was born on August 22, 1953 in Elmira, NY daughter of the late Fred and Arlene (Harris) Wheeler.
She is predeceased by her parents Fred and Arlene Wheeler; sisters Linda Wheeler and Theresa Wheeler; brother Fred Wheeler Jr.; and son-in-law Paul Cornish.
Mary is a former employee of The Morning Times, Sayre, PA, Penn York Opportunities, Athens, PA and Main Link in Sayre, PA.
Mary's first love was with the Lord, her family, her cat Hattie, playing cards and enjoyed snacking on circus peanuts.
She is survived by children Scott M. Heeman (Carlita) of Whitney Point, NY, George E. Heeman Jr. (Kimberly) of Honesdale, PA, Tammy R. Cornish of Barton, NY and Cherrie Heffron (Jeff) of Olyphant, PA; grandchildren Kyle, Kenneth and James Bachman, KrystalLynn Morris, Kayla Mosher, Matthew P. and Kassity Cornish, Christian, Donovan, Ryan and Ember Heffron; brother Robert (Buzz) Wheeler of Lake Ariel, PA, also survived by several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces and friend and former spouse George E. Heeman Sr.
Family and friends may call on Friday, September 1, 2023 at the Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 S. Main Street, Athens, PA from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon where a funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon with the Rev. Darren Maslin officiating. Burial to follow at Tioga Point Cemetery in Athens, PA.
The family asks that in honor of Mary, please wear her favorite color Green to her services. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Mary can be sent to Allied Services Hospice Center in Scranton Pa or a local animal shelter of your choice. The family would like to thank Allied Services Hospice Center for the great care they provided Mary.
