Mary A. Amey

Mary A. Amey, age 64, of Elmira, NY, passed away on July 7, 2023 at Arnot Hospital after a long battle with heart disease.

She was born on March 28, 1959 in Waverly, NY to the late Arnold and Pauline Woodcock Amey.

Mary was employed by Endicott Johnson where she worked for 21 years until its’ closing, she eventually went to work for the Star Gazette where she enjoyed working and the relationships she made while there.  Her biggest love in life was spending time with her grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her “parents” Dick and Ruth Woodcock; sister, Susan Amey; brother-in-law Bill Simpson and sister-in-law Terry Woodcock.

Mary is survived by her children Jennifer (Ken) Dawson, Jason Amey and William (Christina) Vergason; grandchildren Aaron Dunbar, Neil Teribury, Thomas Forrest, Kady Dawson, Xavier Vergason, Donovan Vergason and her little buddy, Liam Vergason; siblings Doris (Paul) Ketcham, Fred (Mayeth) Amey, Shirley Simpson, Pauline Bailey, Alice Middaugh, Jim (Mary) Woodcock, Jerry (Ann) Woodcock, Dave Woodcock and Kathy (Elmer) Lantz; uncle Don Woodcock; close friends Miss Evelyn and Miss Ellie; also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and her faithful dog, Barkey.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the Honest Horse Thieves starting at 1:00 pm.
