Marea E. (Desmond) Hernandez, 59, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at her parents’ home with her family by her side after many years of failing health that she bravely fought every day.

She was born on February 11, 1965, in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of Peter and Joan (Radetzky) Desmond.

Marea was employed as an OB Nurse at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, NY. She gave back to her community by serving with Greater Valley EMS. She worked in the billing office and also volunteered as an EMT.

She is predeceased by her father Peter Desmond, her grandparents, and aunts Tammy Radetzky and Karen Press.

Marea is survived by her mother Joan Desmond, sister and brother-in-law Trudy and Joe Porillo, brother and sister-in-law Michael and Pru Desmond, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends may call on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm with Chaplain Linda Rogers officiating.
