Louise J. Nimmo

Louise J. Nimmo, 95, of Sayre, PA, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026 at Sayre Memory Care Residence.

She was born on June 25, 1931 in Cooperstown, NY, a daughter of the late George and Lelah (Tripp) Jacob.

A 1949 graduate of Unadilla Central High School, Louise went on to further her education at Eastman Dental Dispensary where she received her certification in 1952 as a dental hygienist. After receiving her certification, Louise worked in a private practice as a dental hygienist from 1952 until 1962. Afterwards, she went on to receive her teaching certificate as a school dental hygiene teacher in 1964. Louise then worked as a dental hygiene teacher from 1965 to 1968 for Tioga Central Schools in Tioga, NY and in Waverly Elementary Schools from 1974 to 1983. She continued her educational career as a Pre-K teacher at St. James Catholic School and ended her working career as a medical office assistant in various departments at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital.

Louise was a former member of the Waverly and Sayre Presbyterian Churches. She was a literacy volunteer at the Sayre Public Library and a longtime volunteer at the clothes closet at the North Waverly Chapel.

Louise is predeceased by her beloved husband of 40 years, Thomas P. Nimmo, who died in 2007; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marjorie and Stanford Gross and Fern and Frank Rupert; and her brother and sister-in-law, Raymond “Jake” and Eleanor Jacob.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Heather and Paul Romano of Sayre; granddaughter Adriana Romano and her partner, Seamus Finneran, of New York City, NY; and grandson Nathan Romano of Sayre.

A private graveside service will be held at the family’s convenience. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
