Louise E. (Ellsworth) Harris, 87, of South Waverly, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 7, 2023, at Athens Health and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
She was born on December 16, 1935, in Tunkhannock, PA, the daughter of the late Milo and Ethel (Pond) Ellsworth.
Louise was employed at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, as a Nurse’s Aide and an EKG Technician, retiring after many years of faithful service.
Her life revolved around her family. Louise loved raising her children and as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren began to arrive, she continued to care for them in her home. She loved working around her home, especially in her flower gardens, and taking her dog for long walks. She loved spending time at her home on Mormon Lake and it was the place for many family gatherings, just relaxing and being together.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband Jesse Harris, Sr., daughter Brenda Johnston, great-great-grandson Chance, and brothers Richard and Robert Ellsworth.
Louise is survived by her children Jesse (Denice) Harris, Jr. of South Waverly, PA, and Norma (Tim) Cahill of Athens Township, PA, son-in-law Dave Johnston of Bentley Creek, PA, grandchildren Jamie Johnston, Timothy (Shannon) Cahill, Devon (Jason) Darrow, Jennifer (Glen) Vanderpool, Amy (William) Baker, and Joseph Cahill all of the Valley Area, and Shannon (David) Baker of Harrisburg, PA, great-grandchildren Bethany, Nathan, Cassidy, James, Dakota, Harley, Rebecca, Zackary, Brooke, Wyatt, Jalyn, and Emilyn, great-great-grandchildren Jaxson, Zane, Brynleigh, Addison, Jade, and Alex, sister Connie Martin of Williamsport, PA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Time of Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 12pm-2pm at the Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at the funeral home at 2pm with the Rev. Tyson Wahl officiating.
