Lois A. Vaughn, 98, of Sayre, PA, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Elderwood at Waverly.
She was born on July 20, 1927, in Mehoopany, PA, the daughter of the late Leon and Blanche (Goodwin) Ayers.
Lois was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. A meticulous homemaker, she was also briefly employed as a Nurses’ Aide at Tyler Memorial Hospital and as a clerk at Rockman’s in Sayre.
Lois, along with her husband, David, served the community in many ways doing volunteer work through their church. Additionally, they participated in disaster relief in the Southeast U.S. along with participation in the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
She enjoyed camping, reading, cooking and baking, solving word puzzles, and knitting. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was a long-time member of the Athens United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband of 71 years, David E. Vaughn, son Stephen E. Vaughn, granddaughters, Heather L. Pettit and Stephanie Vaughn, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.
She is survived by daughter; Penelope J. Natali, son and daughter-in-law; David K. and Karen Vaughn, son; Timothy R. Vaughn, grandchildren; Jill Natali, Lori (Thomas) Snyder, Adam (Marie) Clark, Matthew (Kelli) Vaughn, Isabella Vaughn, Jennifer (Henry) Goana, and Jessica (Lance) Lind, 15 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, brother-in-law; Robert C. Vaughn, a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services will be announced in Spring 2026. The family is being cared for by Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Lois’ name to the Athens United Methodist Church, 118 South Main Street, Athens, PA 18810.
