Linda C. Pruyne
July 7, 1949 – August 14, 2025
Linda C. Pruyne, 76, of East Smithfield, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the Robert Packer Hospital with her family by her side.
Born on July 7, 1949, in Perry, Georgia, Linda was the daughter of the late John and Mary Lee Tapley. As the proud daughter of a military family, she spent her early years living in many places around the world, an upbringing that shaped her love of family and community. She graduated from Kecoughtan High School in Hampton, Virginia, in 1968.
While working at an Air Force base in Dover, Delaware, Linda met and married Stephen R. Pruyne. They settled in East Smithfield, Pennsylvania, where they raised their family and built a life together over 54 years of marriage.
For more than 40 years, Linda worked for, and was a devoted member of the East Smithfield Federated Church, giving of her time generously. She loved gardening, bird watching, and spending time with her family. Her life was anchored by her faith, devotion to her children and grandchildren, and a deep love for God.
In addition to her parents, Linda was predeceased by her beloved sister, June J. Rogers. She is survived by her husband, Stephen R. Pruyne of East Smithfield, PA; her younger brother, John “Dub” Tapley of Smyrna, TN; her daughters, Jennifer R. Decker (John Decker) of Milan, PA, and Laura L. Arroyo (Alex F. Arroyo) of Aptos, CA.
She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: John Michael Decker II (Courtney Decker) of Milan, PA; Stephen Decker (Jade Davis) of Owego, NY; and James Decker (Currynne Rumsey) of Milan, PA. Linda leaves behind four adored great-grandchildren; Ivan E. Decker, Illya E. Decker, Zoran D. Decker, and Axell A. Decker; all of Milan, PA. She is further survived by her brother-in-law, John Rogers of Midwest City, OK; and her niece, Lisa Hiel (Kevin Hiel) and their son, Colin Hiel, of Jones, OK.
Though her family is spread far and wide across the United States, the values of love, connection, and family remain strong despite the miles between them.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the many friends, family, extended family, and loved ones who have offered their support in recent months. A special thank you is extended to the Robert Packer Hospital 7th Main Floor staff and the hospice team for their compassionate care during this difficult time.
In accordance with her wishes, Linda’s ashes will be taken to Smyrna, Tennessee, to rest alongside her beloved sister, mother, and father. In lieu of a memorial service, the family invites you to honor her memory by signing the online guestbook or sharing condolences at www.loweryfuneralhome.com.
