Kenneth Gregory Obituary

“A life well-lived with love is an inspiration to us all.”

Kenneth R. “Ken” Gregory, 75, of Sayre, PA, passed away with his loved one beside him on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Robert Packer Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born on January 13, 1948, in Sayre, PA the son of the late Lester and Aletha Cullington Gregory.

Ken was a Teacher at Athens Area School District for 34 years, prior to retiring. He was so proud of his teaching career but more importantly Mr. Gregory was well loved by his students and the faculty. He will be remembered as one of the students’ favorite teachers, how he touched their lives preparing them for the future and instilling in them the confidence and knowledge that they could accomplish whatever they worked towards.

He enjoyed spending time in the new home that he built with his husband, Tom. He had a knack for interior design and each step of the way, he was involved in helping to make their house a home. They loved antiques, Ken treasured each one, and they enjoyed hosting dinner parties for family and friends. In the past, one of the hobbies that Ken and Tom enjoyed was baking all occasion cakes, and over the years they created many beautiful wedding cakes. They enjoyed traveling to many places but their trip to England to visit Ken’s niece and her family was the most memorable one staying for a month to take in all the sites.

His giving and kind nature touched the lives of so many who needed to know that someone cared about them, and he did it so easily and graciously. If someone felt alone, like they had no one, Ken was there with Tom beside him reassuring them that they would always have caring people around them. He was a friend to all. His kindness which was 2nd nature to him, his positive attitude and enthusiastic nature, his dry sense of humor, and the beautiful smile on his face that was unending will be remembered by all who knew and loved Ken. He loved music and reading as he enjoyed just sitting reading a good book while the music played on. His knowledge on any subject from reading all types of books was a gift that was enjoyed by many as he shared that information. He enjoyed the Theatre, and he especially loved playing the accordion in the Valley Accordion Band. Ken was an avid Penn State Fan.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Robert Gregory.

Kenneth is survived by his husband of 42 years Thomas H. Colegrove, his niece and her husband Cindy and Lloyd Adams and their children Katie (Paul) Balla and Madison Adams, in-laws Dale (Brenda) Colegrove, Peggy Haywood, David (Margie) Colegrove, and Clark (Nancy) Colegrove and their families which Ken loved dearly, and numerous friends.
