Karen (Kelley) Eltringham

Karen Eltringham, 63, of Athens, PA passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Strong Memorial Hospital, with her family by her side.

She was born on January 8, 1961 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, the daughter of the late John and Marion (Sweitzer) Kelley.

Karen graduated from the Robert Packer School of Nursing in 1981. She spent the next 43 years working at the hospital caring for patients and the community as an ICU and Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse. She loved her family fiercely and enjoyed spending all of her free time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved sharing her love of cooking and baking with anyone and everyone. Her greatest joy in life was spoiling her grandchildren. Her mantra being, “Grandma is my name, Spoiling is my game.” Over the last several years, she enjoyed traveling to visit her daughter and grandchildren in Europe.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her stepson; Anthony Eltringham and her brother; James Kelley.

Karen is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years; Gary Eltringham, daughter and son-in-law; Kelley and David Hursh, son; Jerame Eltringham and his fiancée Megan Leary, stepson; Chris McClintic, stepson; Jason Eltringham, grandchildren; Graesyn Eltringham, Sawyer Eltringham, Wyatt Hursh, Levi Hursh, Ruby Eltringham, Sienna Hursh, Bethanie Northrup and her husband John, Conner McClintic, and Maycee Eltringham, and great grandson; Blake Northrup. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law; John and Andrea Kelley, sister and brother-in-law; Marion and Mike Bannon, her twin sister; Sharon Ford, brother and sister-in-law David and Lynn Kelley, brother; Frank Kelley, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and her faithful dog, Zoey.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, September 26, 2024 from 10am-12pm at the Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at the funeral home at 12pm with the Rev. Linda Rogers officiating. 

A private family committal will follow the services at Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
