Joyce L. (Shaylor) Brown

Joyce L. Brown, 86, of Sayre, PA passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

She was born in Candor, NY, on October 29, 1938, the daughter of the late George and Mable (Studevant) Shaylor.

Joyce loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren. She was a woman of deep faith and an active member of the Windham Center Community Church. She was an avid gardener and loved spending time tending to her flowers. Everyone knew her for a house that was always clean and everything in its place. She enjoyed camping, going out to dinner and traveling.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

Joyce is survived by her beloved husband; Howard R. Brown, Jr., sons and daughters-in-law; Fred and Barb Newton and Howard III and Julie Brown, daughter and son-in-law; Tanya and Steven Van Ness, 8 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, multiple grand dogs, brother; Thomas “Pete” Shaylor, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends and family may call on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 11am-12pm at the Windham Center Community Church, 35 Church Road, Rome, PA. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 12pm at the church with Pastor Jeff Bisher officiating. The family is being cared for by Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
