John W. Page, 81, of Athens, PA, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026 at Elderwood Memory Care Unit following an extended illness.
He was born April 17, 1945 in Sayre, PA, the son of the late John D. and Jane (Wax) Page.
John was a proud Veteran of the US Air Force. He was a member of the Athens American Legion Post #246, Sayre VFW Post #1536, and the Sons of Italy, Sayre. John was employed with the Ingersoll Rand, Athens, Suburban Propane, and retired from Valley Cities Gas Company.
In high school, John was an outstanding athlete in baseball, football, and wrestling. He was inducted into the Athens Area School District Hall of Fame. John was a proud sport parent and grandparent and he enjoyed attending the girls dance recitals. He loved going camping with his family.
John was a classic car enthusiast. He loved being around people and could soicialze with anyone whether he knew them or had just met them. He will be remembered for his unique sense of humor, knack of teasing one and all, and always being at his coffee group in the mornings.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sisters, Judy Parmenter and Joan Markle, and brother, James Page.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Judy Page, son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Melissa Page, daughter and son-in-law, Marci and Toby McGonigal, daughter, Melanie Wells, grandchildren, Raelyn McGonigal, John Page, Keirly McGonigal, Gracie Page, Brisa McGonigal, and Maci Wells, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Time of Visitation will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026 from 11am -1pm at the Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 S. Main St., Athens, PA. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 1pm at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA. 100 Canal St., Athens, PA 18810.
Those wishing may make memorial donations in John’s name to Athens Area High School Athletic Booster Club, 101 Canal Street, Athens, PA 18810.
