Jean Baker, 83, of Sayre, passed away on December 12, 2024, at home following an extended illness.
Jean was born on March 26, 1941, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She spent her childhood summers at her parents’ cottage in Muskoka at Hammer Bay, running barefoot over the rocks and swimming in Lake Joseph. She met the love of her life, Bob Baker, while working as a nurse in Fredericton, NB. She moved to The States to be with him, and they spent 45 years together in Sayre. Jean loved being with her children, grandchildren and multiple other children that passed through her doors. She also loved her job of nearly 30 years working at the Hallmark Store in Sayre. She deeply loved her fur babies, Andy, TJ, Cooper and Nikita.
Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bob, and her parents Clifford and Edith Furber.
She is survived by her children, Lisa Baker, John (Emily) Baker, and Kevin (Christy) Baker; and bonus daughter, Jennifer (Shawn) Hunsinger-Mackereth; grandchildren, Iris, Tory, KC, Violet, Miles, Jonah, and bonus grandson Edward Johnston; siblings, John (Shirley) Furber, Donald (Edith) Furber, and Caroline (Murray) Bishop; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jean’s family would like to thank those who provided support in multiple ways.
A private burial to take place at Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA. A celebration of her life will be held at a future date.
