Obituary

James Byran Williams, Jr., aged 79 of Sayre, Pennsylvania passed away July 29,
2023 at Robert Packer Hospital following an extended Illness.
He was born, May 2, 1947 in Kingston, Pennsylvania to late James Byran Williams,
Sr and Jean Watt.
After graduating from Wilkes-Barre High School, he attended DeVry Institute.
Following his education, Jim joined the U S Air Force on February 8, 1965 and
proudly served for over four and a half years. While in the Air Force Strategic Air
Command, he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. After his military service, he
pursued his interest in electronics and communications in varied positions with
AT&T, Bell Laboratories, and Western Electric until his retirement.
Jim pursued an interest in hot air ballooning for nearly 40 years, crewing for many
different balloons. Other Interests Included auto mechanics, downhill skiing, and
camping.
Jim is survived by his children, James and DJ, and two grandchildren, Alina and
Jean Williams.
In lieu of a memorial service, there will be a short remembrance of Jim at the
Spiedie Fest balloon rally In Binghamton, NY the weekend of August 5.
Donations may be made in his name to Stray Haven Humane Society in Waverly,
NY or to the Balloon Federation of America.
