James C. Brice passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on October 29th due to complications with renal failure (kidney disease).
James was born on November 9, 1938 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. He grew up with his brother Louis in Monaca, PA and was a graduate of Beaver High School. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for over eight years. In the service, he was assigned to Ramstein AFB Germany, where he met the love of his life, his Honey, Gerta. He spent the remainder of this life as a proud Veteran – you could almost always bet he would be wearing his Air Force ball cap whenever you saw him. He retired from Hardinge Incorp and spent over 40 years trouble shooting in the Machine Tools industry traveling the globe.
James was a friend of Bill W. for over forty years. He dedicated his spare time to serve as a guiding light, sponsor, and advocate to help others who had known similar struggles to his own. James also found faith and love from his friends in Christ at Fresh Start Church.
James is predeceased by the love of his love, his wife of 58 years Gertrud Brice and his mother Theda Thorm Brice.
He is survived by his two daughters Tina M. Kane (Jerome) of Elmira, NY, and Jamy A. Brice-Hyde (William) of Vermillion, OH; his grandchildren Mychal and Angelina Kane, and Annabelle Hyde; his beloved brother, Louis Brice (Cathy) of Beaver, PA; his niece Cindy Brice of Beaver, PA; his nephew Louis Brice Jr. of Beaver, Pa; and numerous great nephews, great nieces, and countless cousins within the Brice, Throm, and Sadler families.
The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to those at Fresenius Dialysis at the Guthrie Clinic in Sayre, PA. The caregivers and patients at Fresenius and dear friend and doctor, Dr. Singh, became like a second family to James, showering him with unwavering support and love until the very end.
