Jack L. “Foxy” Hughes, 88, of Sayre, PA passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023, at the Sayre Health Care Center following an extended illness.
He was born June 8, 1935, in Wheatland, WY, the son of the late Ed and Iola (Smith) Hughes.
Jack loved spending time with his family and his cats. He enjoyed reading and watching game shows. He volunteered at the Robert Packer Hospital for many years. Jack was known as a very friendly man who many people thought looked like Santa Claus.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother Jim, step-mother Ruth, and infant sister Aileen.
Jack is survived by his children Kelly Hughes of South Waverly, Kerrie (John Helfers) Hughes of Green Bay, WI, Kristie Hughes of Sayre; grandchildren Justin Hughes, Kharissa Hughes, Marissa Fidler; great-granddaughter Khaliyah Hughes; siblings and in-laws Kaye (Bill) Erskine of Lingle, WY, Linda Hughes of Guernsey, WY, and Debbie (Scott) Bancroft of Jackson, WY, and 104-year-old aunt Sylvia Whitmarsh of San Diego, CA, and four nephews and nieces.
The family is being assisted by Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
