Henry J. “Hank” Lipps, Jr., 75, of Sayre, PA, died Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, following an extended illness.
He was born on November 11, 1947, in Hampshire, IL, the son of Henry, Sr. and Norma Ponto Lipps.
Hank loved his family and spending time with them. He simply adored his great-granddaughter Addie, and enjoyed taking her for rides on his tractor. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his son Mike. He was a prankster and always ready to play a joke on anyone around but he was always ready to get his daughter Alexie and his great- granddaughter Addie. He enjoyed working in his yard and could fix anything.
Hank was a Veteran of the US Marine Corps, serving during the Vietnam War and obtained the rank of Corporal. He was employed with Arco & Oil Field Company in Las Vegas, NV, prior to retiring. While in Las Vegas, he married Linda R. Thompson and they returned to the Sayre area to reside.
He is predeceased by his brothers-in-law Carl Thompson and Mike Thompson, and Donald Schreier.
Henry is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years Linda R. (Thompson) Lipps, children Mike Lipps, Megan Lipps, Tammy (Kevin) Alger, and Marty Weed, granddaughter Alexis M. Wiles, and great-granddaughter Addison “Addie” M. Parker. He is also survived by his brother Carl (Vicky) Lipps in IL, in-laws John & Eddie Thompson, Pete and Sandy Thompson, Wanda Schreier, Kenny Thompson and Steve Spaulding, and several nieces’ nephews, and cousins.
Following Hank’s wishes there will be no services. Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, is assisting the family.
