Gladys V. Waite, 94, of Ulster, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Robert Packer Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born on October 14, 1929, in Waverly, NY, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Lydia (Burlingame) Morton.
Gladys was a devout Christian, member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Athens, and very active with the Ladies Missionary Fellowship. Due to her love for the Lord and mission work, she was an inspiration to all three of her sons who became pastors and missionaries. She loved her family dearly and also was like a mother to many of her children’s friends and members of the church. She also loved cats.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband David A. Waite, son David E. Waite, brothers Leonard Morton and Carl Morton, and sisters Elsie Foote and Shirley Strope.
Gladys is survived by her children Sharon (John) Youket, Faith (Tom) Stephan, Timothy (Valerie) Waite, Ruth (Jim) Cahoon, Rachel (Fred) Jackson, and Donald (LeAnne) Waite, daughter-in-law Mary Waite Henry, 22 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, sister Phyllis Ludwig and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 11am-1pm at the Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 S. Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 1pm with her sons Rev. Timothy Waite and Rev. Donald Waite officiating.
Burial will follow in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
