Grief never ends but it changes. It is a passage, not a place to stay. It is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It is the price of our love.
A beautiful soul went home and left many with broken hearts.
Gina Worthington Evans, 57, of Athens, PA, formerly of Scranton, PA, passed away with her family by her side on Thursday, July 09, 2020 at home. She was born on April 21, 1963 in Sayre, PA, the daughter of Arthur Worthington and Bernita (Bortle) Luckman.
Gina was a very family-oriented person who loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. She was the always the head of the festivities, bringing family and friends together for creating memories for all. She had a great love for her children and great-grandchildren. Last year, she flew by herself to Hawaii to see her son and daughter-in-law. She was really proud of herself.
Friends and family describe her as a free spirit, a second mom, a hard worker, a light that shined from the inside with her fathers smile, kind, caring, someone who could cheer you up on your worst day, my fellow crafter, the best mom, daughter, sister, grandma, niece, cousin, and friend. She was employed as a Housekeeper at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre. Gina was well loved by her co-workers and while working in the OB Department, she always looked forward to hearing all the new baby names.
If the New England Patriots had an award for their biggest fan, it would have been hers. She loved music, especially from the 60’s and 70’s; Moody Blues, Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones, and Aerosmith to name a few. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and camping.
She is predeceased by her father, Arthur Worthington.
Gina is survived by her children, Stephanie Evans of Scranton, PA, Keith and Kaleigh Evans of Moosic, PA, Casey and Brittany Evans of Kapolei, HI, and Abby Evans of Athens, PA, grandchildren Mason, Nevaeh, Vance, and Maisie. She is also survived by her mother, Bernita Luckman of Towanda, PA, sister, Susan Evans of Lockwood, NY, brother, Adam Worthington of Wysox, PA, brother and sister-in-law, Jeremy and Joann Worthington of Ulster, PA, sister, Julie Annette Egan of Maine, NY, and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside services will be held on July 13, 2020 at 10:30am at Bradford County Memorial Park, 20452 Route 6, Towanda, PA with the Rev. Linda Rogers officiating.
Our minds will still talk to her, our hearts will still look for her, but our souls know that she is at peace.
