Gerald "Jerry" M. Patton

Gerald “Jerry” M. Patton, 91, of South Waverly, PA, most recently of Elderwood Assisted Living in Vestal, NY passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Ideal Senior Living Center, Endicott, NY.

He was born on November 19, 1934, in Sayre, PA, the son of the late Donald and Ruth (Rymell) Patton.

Jerry was a proud Veteran of the US Navy. He retired with over 30 years of faithful service from IBM in Owego. He was a member of the Sayre ELKS and the Horseshoe Club in Waverly for many years.

He was an avid runner. He participated in 43 Marathons, 17 Boston Marathons, and 10 Dave Smith Runs and the Relay for Life Runs when the name changed.  He was a member of the Triple Cities Running Club.

Jerry was a former Athens Little League Coach. He enjoyed golfing and played in a Golf League at Tomasso’s. He was a fan of the NY Yankees, NY Giants, and NASCAR.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sisters, Donna Cole, Joyce Springer, Mary Louise Patton, and Jacqueline Patton and his brothers Robert Patton and Jim Patton.

Gerald is survived by beloved wife of 65 years, Janice Knapp Patton, daughters, Kathy Smith and Sue Chippari, granddaughters, Mikayla Chippari and her husband Evan Boaman, and Kailey Smith, great-granddaughter, Millie Boaman, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends and family may call on Sunday, April 19, 2026 from 2pm-4 pm at the Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 S. Main St., Athens, PA and Monday, April 20, 2026 from 10:00am to 11:00am at the Church of the Redeemer, 201 South Wilbur Avenue, Sayre, PA. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am at the church with Rev. Melinda Artman officiating.

Burial will follow at Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
