Florence (Strobridge) Hoose, 101, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Sayre Health Care Center.
She was born on March 31, 1923, in Bentley Creek, PA, the daughter of the late Orlando “Lan” and Emily (Spencer) Strobridge, and one of seven children. She resided in several places, but always called Big Pond home.
Known as “Gram”, she loved her family deeply and enjoyed spending time with them, telling her many stories and always welcoming friends and family with a place to stay. She loved playing “the game” Rummikub and enjoyed sewing, shopping, rummage sales, and was a collector of anything and everything, always looking for and finding a good bargain! She also enjoyed traveling throughout the country, seeing all states, except Hawaii!.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband; Harold “Hal” Hoose.
Florence is survived by sons and daughters-in-law; Larry and Retta Hoose and Harold, Jr. (Dee) and Pam Hoose, daughter; Nancy Bastion, 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, her identical twin sister; Flora (Strobridge) Wheeler, and her brother and sister-in-law; Richard and Jean Strobridge.
Following Florence’s wishes, there will be no services. The burial will be private in Bradford County Memorial Park, Towanda, PA. The family is being cared for by the Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
