Flora (Strobridge) Wheeler, 102, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 8, 2025, in the comfort of the home in which she was residing.
She was born on March 31, 1923, in Bentley Creek, PA the daughter of the late Orlando “Lan” and Emily (Spencer) Strobridge, and one of seven children. While Flora spoke often of living in multiple locations, Big Pond, PA was always considered to be her home.
Flora, lovingly called Mi-Mi by her family, was devoted to her family and her church. She was a member of the Big Pond Lion’s Club and Big Pond Faith Community United Methodist Church. Her home was the beacon for friends and family within the community. Flora always had something sweet and a cup of tea ready. She would sit at her dining room table and tell stories about her past escapades with her siblings. To Flora, nothing was more important than her family. She loved to play Rummikub and enjoyed shopping, frequently competing with her twin sister, Florence, for the best bargains.
Flora is predeceased by her husband, Norman “Speed” Wheeler, and her son, Bruce Wheeler.
Flora is survived by her daughter, Linda Poteat, grandsons, Jeremy Mullen, and Chris Mullen, great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Mullen, Trevor Campbell, Jayden Mullen, and Joelle Mullen, and her brother and sister-in-law; Richard and Jean Strobridge.
Flora’s wishes were for there to be no services. The burial will be private in Bradford County Memorial Park, Towanda, PA. The family is being cared for by the Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
