Erma Jean (Moore) Readenour

Erma Jean (Moore) Readenour, of Athens, passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.  

She was born on July 6, 1933, in Orwell Twp., the daughter of the late Roy and Beatrice (Boardman) Moore.

Erma loved horses and cats. In her younger years, she loved playing softball. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees fan. Erma was a cook at the Sons of Italy and at many of the various other places in town. She loved all Italian food, enjoying dinners with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Jim and sister, Sylvia Maryott.

Erma is survived by her children Charles (Laurie) Tinkham and Sylvia Tinkham, several grandchildren, brother, Donald (Glenda) Moore, brother-in-law, Wilbert Maryott, and several nieces and nephews.

Following Erma’s wishes, there will be no services. The family is being cared for by Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc.,  Athens, PA.

Memorial donations may be made in Erma’s name to the Animal Care Sanctuary, 353 Sanctuary Hill Lane, East Smithfield, PA 18817.
