Emma Jean Evans, 82, of Athens, PA passed away at her home on Monday, July 29, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on December 28, 1941 in Sayre, PA the daughter of the late Johnathan and Della F. (Swingle) Vanderpool.
Emma was always about her family, she loved spending time with them and cooking for all the family gatherings. She also loved canning and berry picking to share and bake items with her family. She enjoyed the outdoors, watching all the birds and wildlife, taking nature trail walks, and prior to her husband’s passing taking fishing trips with him on the St. Lawrence River. Emma was always ready to take a ride to the various Bingo games in the area for an evening out. She loved visiting with people and could strike up a conversation with anyone no matter where she was. Emma’s kindness was an attribute that endeared many to her.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband; Bernard H. Evans, son-in-law Ronnie Ennis, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Emma is survived by her loving children; Debra Ennis, Michael Evans, Jamey “Jim” Evans, and Bonnie (Brian) Wood, grandchildren; Jessica (Chris House) Evans, Kevin VanHorn, Mitchell (Theresa Talada) Evans, Scott Evans, and Gregg Evans, great-grandchildren; Jazmin, Dylan, Noah, Abregella, Brooke and Colsen, great-great-grandchildren; Jacob and Deliah, sister; Connie Campbell, and favorite aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call on Monday, August 5, 2024 from 11am-1:00pm at the
Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the funeral home at 1:00pm with Rev. Linda Rogers officiating.
Burial will follow in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
