Earl L. Mayo, Sr., 94, of Athens Township, formerly of Towanda passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at his home.
He was born on July 24, 1931, in Powell, PA, the son of the late Charles and Lulu (Strope) Mayo.
Earl was a Veteran of the US Army, serving in the Korean War (Porkchop Hill). He was employed with the Ingersoll Rand, Athens, retiring after 38 years of faithful service. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Towanda.
In his younger years, Earl enjoyed playing in the IR Softball and Bowling Leagues. He was an avid musician, played multiple instruments and sang in several local Country Bands.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his first wife; Marjorie (Covey) Mayo, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, and one stepson.
Earl is survived by his wife; Jacqueline (Collins) Mayo, his children Earl, Jr. (Maureen) Mayo, James “Doc” (Cindy) Mayo, Terrie (Bruce) Spencer, Steven Mayo, David (Mary) Mayo and Jody “Kevin” (Christine) Mayo, stepchildren; Terri Krauss and Scott Leach, 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends and family may call on Monday, October 20, 2025, from 10:30am to 11:30am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 510 Ann Street, Towanda, PA. Funeral services will follow at the church at 11:30am with Bishop Russell Lehman officiating.
Burial will follow the service at Bradford County Memorial Park, Towanda, PA, with Military Honors being accorded.
