Doris Jean (Soper) Nichols

Doris Soper Nichols, 79, of Athens, PA went home to be with her loving husband on Thursday December 7, 2023 at Robert Packer Hospital following a brief illness in Sayre, PA.

She was born May 22, 1944, in Sayre, PA the daughter of the late William and Ruth (Wood) Soper.

Doris was a loving wife and mother who loved spending time with her grandchildren who were her world.  She liked making blankets and crocheting.  Doris loved animals especially Chloe her puppy and her three cats.  She loved taking care of everybody.

She is predeceased by her husband Kenneth N. Nichols, her infant son Donald Soper, her sisters Edna Fiske, Shirley Huntsinger, and Betty Marie Wolcott, her brothers William Soper, Jack Soper, Kenneth Soper, Mark Soper, and Dale Soper.  She is survived by her children Darlene Weed, Wanda Comstock, Connie Soper Keene, Lisa Nichols, Patty Nichols, Bettie Nichols, and Dorie Nichols, grandchildren Jarryd (Noele) Keene, Christian Keene, Cody McCarty, Merisa (Benjamin) Nichols Buffum, and several step grandchildren, great grandson Jaydenn Scott, Buffum, sister Yolanda Soper, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends and family may call Monday December 11, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 S. Main St. Athens, PA.  Funeral services will follow with Pastor Michelle Johnston officiating.  Burial will take place Tuesday December 12, 2023 at Tioga Point Cemetery at 12:00pm.
