Tiger was a graduate of the Athens High School, Class of 1952. He continued his education at Mansfield State University graduating in 1959 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science in Social Studies. Tiger began his teaching career following graduation with the Elmira City School District. He continued his education at the same time at the Cortland State College graduating in 1966 with his Master’s Degree in United States History. Tiger continued his career with the Elmira City School District, retiring in July of 1991. He was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers and served on the Bradford County Vocational School Board.

Following his graduation from Cortland State, Tiger married the love of his life, Donna L. Wilson, in Covington, PA and they shared 57 years together prior to his passing. Tiger lived in the Valley area his whole life, and was very involved in his community. For 12 years, Tiger served on the Athens Borough Council and on the Athens School Board for 11 years. Tiger was very active in the Valley Fast Pitch for many years, pitching in the Valley League, Bradford County League, Elmira City League, and others in the Elmira Area.

Tiger was the driving force in many non-profit organizations, especially promoting for new memberships. He was a lifetime member of the Sayre-Athens Lions Club. Tiger became a part of the Lions Club in 1960, and with the exception of Treasurer, he held every office several times.
