David Russell Borden

David Russell Borden, age 79 of Gillett, passed away on April 27, 2025 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was born July 22, 1945 in Troy, NY the son of the late Stub and Vivian Borden.

Dave truly lived. He was a second-generation Alumni to Cornell University and the Zeta Chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho member.  He spent many years as a long-haul truck driver and continued to drive truck in some capacity throughout his life.  He was an avid golfer and hunter, loved music and Western movies. He loved watching and competing in antique tractor pulling.  Dave was helpful to all, loved by so many, unbelievably strong and worked as hard as he played. He lived life to the fullest, with no regrets. We will love and miss you- “Old Man” “Pops” “Dad” “Grandpa Dave”.

He is the father of Jeff (Helen) Borden, Sheldon Borden and Tricia (John) Johnson IV; grandfather of Jace (Nicole Fuller) Borden, John Zack, Monica (Aaron Smith) Baker, Courtney Woodworth, Michael Borden, Arvid Johnson and Oscar (Seanna Geiger) Johnson; great-grandfather of Olive Cornell and Willow Borden; brother of Bev (George) Allen and the late Jimmy Borden and the late Kenneth Borden; brother-in-law of Linda Borden; close and dear friend of Brion (Melissa) Rathbun. 

A celebration of his life will be held at a future date.
