Cyril "Cy" L. Morris

Cyril “Cy” Morris of Sayre, Pennsylvania suddenly passed away January 11, 2024 at Robert Packer Hospital.

He was born December 28, 1932 in Overton Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Mervin Morris and Calista (Merrill) Morris.

A Graduate of New Albany High School, Cy served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany during the Korean conflict. He later served in the Civil Air Patrol becoming Chief Warrant Officer and personnel officer of Tioga Point Squadron. He graduated from Elmira College in 1972, majoring in business administration. He worked at the Ingersoll Rand for 40 years mostly in quality assurance time study management.

He volunteered in his community all of his life. He is most known for his 50 years of service with the Greater Valley EMS as an Ambulance Driver and his 54 years as a Fire Policeman with Engine Company #1. He served as president of Engine Company #1 from 1994 until his death (30 years).

He is proceeded in death by his parents Mervin Morris 1939 and Calista Morris in 1978, his wife Margie J. Morris in 2013, his son, Dennis L. Morris in 1995, Step Son John S. Curran in 2021, Brothers Malcolm Duane Morris in 1969, and Melvin James Morris in 2002, Sisters Janice Morris in 1937, Joanne Fessenden in 2014, and Evelyn M. Jones in 2020.

He is survived by his daughter, Judy E. Morris of Springfield, Kentucky and his son James D. Morris of Spokane, Washington, five grandchildren, Rebecca Mayglothing, James LaFritz, Jr, Tiffany Proctor (Chris), Stacy Santini (John), Rachel Teal (Josh), and five great-grandchildren, Abigail Mayglothing, Joseph Mayglothing, Beverly Meaker, Isa Teal, and Noah Proctor, two sisters, Alma Randall of Forty Fort, PA and Yvonne Finley of Lake City, Florida, a sister-in-law Eleanor Whelan of Lewiston, New York, two Daughter-in-laws Tracey Morris of LAPlata, Maryland and Joanne Curran of Corning, New York and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA is assisting the family.
