Catherine Dibble Obituary

Catherine Leonie Dibble, 63, of Sayre, died Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at the Robert Packer Hospital, after extensive health complications.

She was born November 26, 1960, in Leonora, Demarara, British Guiana (now Guyana), the daughter of George and Merle (Gishard) Daniels.

Catherine came to the United States November 18, 1983, and married December 31, 1983, in the Town of Barton, to her pen pal, James A. Dibble.  They resided at first in Waverly, NY, then Athens Township, and for 37 years in Sayre, where they raised their three children.

She was sworn in as a citizen of the United States on November 13, 1991 in Williamsport, PA.  Catherine was a member of the Sayre Christian Church, having been baptized in the Susquehanna River.  Her strong faith in God and determination to persevere, despite the challenges of having contracted polio at a young age, were an inspiration to all who knew her. She would want to encourage people to trust in God and keep dancing through every trial.  She will always be remembered by her joyful smile, her warm hugs, and making everyone feel like the most important person in the world.

Catherine was loved and adored by her husband, three children and six grandchildren.  She was skilled at crocheting, crafting, sewing, and cooking.

She is predeceased by her parents, brothers Milton Daniels, Albert Daniels, Aubrey Daniels, sister-in-law Eileen Daniels.

Catherine is survived by her husband James, of Sayre, her children James Dibble, Jr. of Middletown, PA, Jonathan (Alexis) Dibble of Horseheads, NY, Sarah (Eric) Rava of Sayre, PA, grandchildren Dallan Dibble, Mayzee Dibble both of Middletown, PA, Aylah Dibble of Horseheads, NY, Dahlia Rava, Micah Rava, Jonah Rava, of Sayre, PA, sisters Carol Daniels and Celeste Daniels, brother Cedric Daniels all of Guyana, her husband’s parents Donald and Carol Dibble of East Smithfield, PA, sister-in-law Ellie (Donald) Carr of Horseheads, NY, Elaine (Todd) Benton of Horseheads, NY, nieces and nephews Amber Beaton, Jonathan Beaton, Kezia Daniels, Guan Daniels, all of Guyana, Nicholas Carr of Elmira Heights, NY, Jack Benton and Alexandra Benton, both of Horseheads, NY.

She was loved by the staff and physicians in the ICU and would have them all dancing.  The family wishes to thank the staff and physicians at the Robert Packer Hospital for their excellent care.
