Abbie K. (Lantz) Palumbo

Abbie K. Palumbo, 73, of Sayre passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the Robert Packer Hospital with her family by her side.

Abbie was born on February 28, 1952, the daughter of the late Richard and Neva (Leonard) Lantz. She was employed through the years at Sayre Lingerie, Joyce Manufacturing and Leech Industries.

She was a member of the Sayre American Legion Post #283 and the J.E. Wheelock Women’s Auxiliary.

Abbie is survived by her husband of 58 years, John M. Palumbo. Son, Les M. Palumbo, and his long-time companion, Julie Kowalewicz. Son and daughter-in-law, Christopher J. Palumbo and Theresa J. Palumbo. Grandchildren, Jonathan Palumbo, Tyler Palumbo and Linsey Palumbo. Sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Daniel Sloat, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, and her two fur-babies, Sassy and Mikee. She was predeceased by her sisters, Connie Selman, Dixie Coolbaugh and Barbara Denlinger.

Abbie traveled with her husband, John, across the country while he was in the Air Force for 21 years living in North Dakota, Mississippi, Rome, New York and New Jersey before they settled back in Sayre to be close to family. Family meant everything to Abbie. She enjoyed going to bluegrass festivals and camping including sitting around the campfire singing campfire songs. She enjoyed playing cards and poker. She was a football fan cheering on the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs but most of all she was an avid fan of Patrick Mahomes. She enjoyed her scratch-off tickets and was known as the “Lottery Ticket Queen”. She was very proud of each of her grandchildren and it brought her much joy watching each of them graduate from high school and college with the most recent being her granddaughter, Linsey, receiving her high school diploma. She loved her family and will be greatly missed.

A Time of Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 1pm-2pm at the Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2pm at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA, in the Columbarium.
