Wilma "Sissy" K. Burgess

IN LOVING MEMORY: 

Wilma “Sissy” Burgess, 62, of Towanda, PA, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021, at the Sayre Health Care Center following an extended illness.

She was born on November 14, 1958, in Sayre, PA, the daughter of the late Harvey and Wilma (Evans) Burgess.

Sissy loved all types of music. Her favorite song was "Daddy's Hands." She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, especially making Native American items. Sissy loved dirt track rack and was a driver at Dunhill Racetrack in Towanda, winning a trophy at one point. She on many occasions was also part of the pit crew doing many jobs including changing tires and doing repairs.

She is predeceased by her father Harvey Burgess, mother Wilma Larabee, brothers Bob Burgess, Raymond Burgess, Rodney Burgess, and Buzzy Larabee, and sister Genevieve Burgess.

Wilma is survived her daughter Lois Burgess and her companion Tracy Kithcart, daughter Lisa Burgess, son Jeffrey Woodruff and his companion Shawnee Pearce, grandchildren Tracy, Jr., Harvey, Marie, Glen, Kaitlyn, JR, TJ, Travis, Jeffrey, Jr., Kelly, Savannah, and Bradley, and great-grandchildren Marilyn, Josh, and Christine. She is also survived by her brothers Gene Burgess, Donald Burgess, Roy Burgess, Jerry Burgess, and Jake Burgess, sisters Alice Burgess, Martha Meak, Blanche MacIntire, and Barb Rockwell, nephew Junior Burgess and his wife Phyllis and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Following Wilma’s wishes there will be no services. The family is being assisted by Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.

Memorial donations may be made in Wilma’s name to Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA 18810 to help offset the funeral expenses.
