Joan E. (Andrus) Dawson

Joan E. Dawson, 65, of Owego, NY, formerly of East Smithfield, PA, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Wilson Medical Center, Johnson City, NY.

She was born on April 7, 1955 in East Smithfield, PA, the daughter of the late Henry L. and Jennie S. (Sargeant) Andrus.

Joan’s priority was always her family, especially her grandchildren who were the light of her life. The grandkids and great grandkids always wanted to be at “Gigi’s” house so she would hold “Grandma Camp” and they would all come. During camp, they would swim, do crafts, and enjoyed just spending time together. Joan was a friend to all and always willing to help anyone no matter the circumstances. She loved to cook and bake for family and friends.

She grew up on the Andrus Family Farm in East Smithfield and Joan always had a great appreciation and love for all animals. She especially enjoyed watching dolphins and one of the highlights of her life was when she swam with the dolphins. Joan enjoyed doing crafts, gardening, and her flowers and plants. She was a past member of the East Smithfield Federated Church.

Joan is survived by her husband of 30 years; Duane at home, daughter; Amy Storms of Owego, NY, son; Adam Storms and his fiancé; Karen Heim of Owego, NY, grandchildren; Tasha and Jordin Kovarik of NC, Tyler and Veronica Northrup of Athens, PA, Devin Northrup of FL, Hunter Lawrence of Cortland, NY, Makenzie Storm of Owego, NY, and Abigail Storm of Elmira, NY, great grandchildren; Arria, Nolin, Raygin, and Lucca, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 7, 2020 at 1pm at Union Cemetery, 205 Peas Road, Milan, PA with the Rev. Tim Robson officiating.

Burial will follow the services in Union Cemetery.
